Sweden’s largest media company Bonnier News acquires the Vasa-based media group HSS Media, which publishes the newspapers Vasabladet, Österbottens Tidning and Syd-Österbotten in Ostrobothnia, Finland. The newspapers will become part of the Dagens Nyheter business area of ​​Bonnier News.

Harry Schaumans Stiftelse (HSS) was founded in 1933. The mission of the foundation is to support science, education and culture in the Swedish-speaking Ostrobothnia. HSS manages assets of around 80 million euros, which are invested in real estate and securities. HSS became a newspaper publisher in 1988 when the foundation bought Vasabladet.

The HSS Media group was founded in 1997. The group includes the newspapers Vasabladet, Österbottens Tidning and Syd-Österbotten, as well as the bilingual local radio channel Radio Vaasa and the marketing agency Seger Marketing. HSS Media’s turnover in 2023 was around 17 million euros and the group employs around 140 people.
